A real portable test layout
This portable N-scale layout is used for RailKernel demonstrations. It shows how a geometrically designed track plan is connected to physical track, accessories, feedbacks and a command station. Visitors can see automatic operation, route selection, block protection, precise release and Free Driving working in practice.
Wiring Advisor
Wiring a two-rail layout requires more than connecting two wires to the command station. Feedback sections must be powered through the correct feedback module, while undetected rail sections need a direct supply. The RailKernel Wiring Advisor analyses the geometric layout, marks both rails consistently as J and K and shows for every section whether its J connection belongs on the command station or on a specific feedback input. It also counts the required soldering and connections.
Design explained
The design combines a double oval with several crossovers, station tracks and dead-end sidings. Trains can keep circulating, change tracks, select different station tracks and perform shunting movements, while the complete layout remains easy for visitors to understand. Its many short blocks, feedback sections and turnout streets make it particularly suitable for demonstrating and testing dynamic route selection, several simultaneous trains and aggressive but safe infrastructure release.
