RailKernel for Z21

A graphical operating model for Z21 railways

RailKernel is extending its multi-command-station architecture to Roco and Fleischmann Z21 systems, bringing the same layout, train and routing model to Z21 users.

One consistent project

The Z21 integration is designed to use the same locomotives, accessories, feedback contacts, blocks and trains as other RailKernel command stations.

Network-based control

RailKernel will communicate with the Z21 over the local network while keeping operational state visible on the graphical railway.

Active development

Z21 support is under active development and hardware testing; this page will be updated as supported functions become release-ready.

Planned around real railway operation

  • The goal is not a separate Z21 screen but full participation in RailKernel route calculation, monitoring and automatic driving.
  • Command-station-specific capabilities will be exposed honestly, without pretending that every central station offers identical functions.
  • Interested Z21 owners can download RailKernel now and contact the project about testing upcoming support.
